Any questions?
Our experts have the answer
Our skincare experts recommend using a facial toner twice a day for best results. Toners come in various formulations and are therefore suitable for all skin types. Whether you’re prone to oiliness, dryness or even both, there’s a toner that’s right for you.
What does a toner do on your face?
After cleansing, a toner is the crucial next step of your skincare regime so you can effectively ‘take the day’ off your skin. It removes any remaining dirt and grime after cleansing. It also rebalances the skin pH and prepares for a serum and moisturiser.
Is it ok to use face toner every day?
Generally, you can use a face toner every day. But if your toner contains ingredients that are made for exfoliating, we recommend only using it a few times a week to avoid irritation. Clarins’ toners are gentle for all skin types, suitable to use in the morning and/or evening every day. Use Hydrating Toning Lotion if you want to gently moisturise your skin after cleansing.
Are toners good for older skin?
Yes, toners are good for mature skin. You can look for a facial toner that contains glycerin, like Purifying Toning Lotion which helps restore and maintain hydration, improving its plumpness and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. If you are looking for a more concentrated toning lotion, we recommend our Treatment Essences range. For the perfect brightening routine, look no further than our Bright Plus Dark Spot-Targeting Treatment Essence. The complexion is left flawless, even, and visibly brightened thanks to the benefits of Acerola, with skin ready to soak up the next steps in your beauty routine.
How do I use a facial toner?
Once you have thoroughly cleansed your face using a high-quality face cleanser, apply your toner using a cotton pad, ensuring that you avoid the eye area, as this is particularly delicate. You can also use your fingers to gently tap your toner in after cleansing with a cleansing milk or waterproof make-up remover. This is an easy way of boosting the effectiveness of any serum, face oil, or moisturiser you go on to apply. Think of it as a skincare routine necessity.
